Ramen Review 3.0 =)

Hello wonderful humans of the interwebs!

I haven't had a breakfast picture in a little while, so BAM!
Cinnamon apple oatmeal with yogurt and almonds on top. The other half of the apple and a boiled egg on the side ;)
Now, on with the review!

I don't normally eat a lot of ramen or instant noodles, but when I do, I try to jazz them up with side dishes to make them feel less unhealthy. Today's ramen hails from Indonesia! I actually first had this a while ago back in high school, but I forgot how delicious it was until I decided to make a pack at my dad's workplace. It is a dry noodle once again, meaning after you cook it, you would drain the water and then mix in the flavours.

Here's a picture of the package and the noodles cooked and mixed with Korean fish cakes on top. I would normally do more to jazz it up, but due to lack of ingredients and being at my dad's workplace, this was all I could do. But it still tasted awesome!

Package of 5 noodles. =D
Tada~ It was so delicious. I wish I had an egg, but there are restrictions to what I can do at work =P
All in all, this goes up there with the Gomtang and the Bibimmen. I would argue that this tastes better than the Bibimmen as well. ;) The size of the pack of noodles is smaller than the other ones, but the flavour does not suffer from it! Like people always say, size doesn't matter. It's what you can do with it. (Or maybe I'm butchering the saying. Oh well! I've always been quite clueless and naive anyway =D)

Coming at 200 calories per packet, I would say this is the better alternative to fast food for lunch. If you know you don't have much time for lunch at work or school, or you're just feeling a lazy day coming on, give this a try and you might be pleasantly surprised. Most people think only Japanese instant ramen is the way to go, but going out of that mainstream and trying something out might just surprise you.

Never live life in a routine. Switch up your meals, try out new things. And always love what you do, so you never have to live with regrets. ;)

Smile for me and try something new today!

Celebrating a Birthday and Getting Sick...

Hello there!

So...starting like...Thursday, I developed a sore throat. I thought it might have been severe allergies since Ragweed season has come in Toronto. So I ignored it and took my normal Aerius, and then BAM! Saturday morning and my voice is dying. Top it off, it was a birthday party for Lucas (my boyfriend for those who are new or don't know who that is) and it was being hosted at my house. I had stayed up until 4am Friday night to finish marinading ribs for the bbq, and ended up waking up at 8am to finish preparing for the party. We had loads of fun though! Here are some pictures!

Finger foods for the guests. Cucumber, carrots, cookies, and French baguette. (Dips were provided as well)

Fruit salad. We didn't actually end up eating this because we had too much other food.

Went shopping for drinks and saw the cutest juice box EVER. And it's organic! Score!

We had a kinda geeky part with board games ;3 Just the way we like it.

I baked this cake from scratch! Took forever, and it has a surprise inside!
My sweetie cutting his birthday cake.

TADA! There's a heart inside the cake! The secret to this is in the cake pan ;)

While we were having the bbq for dinner, Lucas and my younger brother started to play Ninja. It's an elementary school-ish game and it's really fun! I ended up joining in along with two other people and we had a blast! I didn't get to take pictures of the food (because I'm a lousy blogger like that), but we had chicken wings and drumsticks in two flavours: salt + pepper, and spicy mix. We also had ribs, burgers, hot-dogs, salad, grilled portobello mushrooms, grilled zuchini, and grilled green and yellow bell peppers.

Nearing the end of the night my voice started sounding like a squeaky hamster because it was disappearing really fast. I took some cold medicine and had some lozenges and called it a night. Hopefully my voice comes back soon and my sickness doesn't get worse. I have plans for this coming week. =(

Wish me well?
Until next time my lovely humans.

Olay Fresh Effects

Wassap humans?

This past weekend when I went to visit my friend's (Sam's) place in Oshawa, I had to pleasure of trying out her moisturizer. I fell in love with it and had to buy one for myself. This is going to turn out to be some kind of review, but meh. =D It's pretty awesome.
Here is the lovely product.
The box says it gives a satin finish. Let me tell you, the finish is so satin-y smooth that I just want to use it all the time. It also keeps me matte all day. It's really light, and in the in-between gel and cream/lotion state. So it's great for all skin types (of course some people would still break out from it because we are all different and special in our own ways).

One little thing though...I feel that it felt smoother and nicer on the skin while I was at Sam's house compared to when I bought my own. This might just be me, or I just miss Sam that much. But the effect of it being super nice might only last the first few times you use it =( It's still really, really nice, it would just be better if it felt as smooth as when I first used it ;)

Hope this might have been of help to those who would like to try this out. If not, and I've made you read something you feel that wasted your time...I'm sorry. I might do another ramen review soon though! =)

The city of Gotham needs me! Until next time!

I went to a beach!

Haro my lovely humans and aliens!
This past weekend I made a most amazing visit to one of my Uni friends who lives in Oshawa. We decided to not overload ourselves with baking this time, and actually enjoy ourselves and the good weather. (Normally we would spend 1.5 days baking and cooking food...not exaggerating or joking)

I arrived on the Friday with Lucas, and we just had chicken tacos. Being the derp that I am, I was too hungry to remember to take a picture of the food...I'm so sorry :c But here's a picture of Lucas with a suction cup thing on his glasses. I hope that's consolation enough?
Slightly creepy? =D lols
Saturday morning came, and another human joined this little party. We made a healthy-ish breakfast. Another tradition at these get-togethers is bacon. Lots and lots of bacon. (We generally have one pack a day) The boys had bacon and eggs with toast, and us girls had apple cinnamon oatmeal and bacon.
Delicious Apple cinnamon oatmeal in the pot. Healthy and Delicious <3
Our giant pile of bacon. Mmm...
After that, we packed and changed and got ready for the beach. We went to Cobourg beach or Victoria beach for the afternoon. It was such an amazing day, and we feasted on cherries, watermelon, and veggie chips/snacks. (Which of course I don't have a picture of...I really need to be more diligent with my camera) However, I managed to remember to take some pictures of us derping around at the beach! Not as many as I would have liked, but still enough =)

Happy days~ Sam was so excited that I had a mini LCD screen on the front of my camera.
Happy huggles! <3
Our view. It was pretty amazing for Lake Ontario.
This little cutie was trying to make a piece of floating toast (square) from sand.
Lucas and our other human friend trying to figure out what they wanted to make.
And the preparations begin!
We didn't have resources...so he had to try to build with an empty juice box.
He ended up trying to make a pyramid.
Finishing touches...
Voila! A beautiful pyramid. (We semi buried it when we were leaving)
Baking myself like a potato. Flipping every 30 minutes for an even colouring on both sides. =D
This is the mess we made. =D So much fun! Food and snackies in the Costco bag.
This was my beach outfit for the day time. I transfered to a night look (more warm) later on, but there is no picture for that. I'm sorry =( But I might end up re-doing the look for a beach essentials video so I'll post it if I end up making one.
After we were done at the beach, we just had to stop by a Starbucks for refreshments. (We had water at the beach and apple juice...but common. It's Starbucks. You don't really need a reason to go there.) I ended up getting the Cool Lime Refresher because I am currently obsessed with it. The barista also made an accident and made me a Venti instead of a Grande so I got a little extra ;) I was not complaining.
Cool Lime Refresher. Doesn't it just look so...fresh?
We ended up being too tired to go home and cook dinner, so we just went to Milestone's. I ordered their Original Bellini and the Top Sirloin, Simply Grilled. Instead of their delicious mashed potatoes, I went for extra veggies because I didn't feel like being that unhealthy (plus, I love veggies). Silly me only took a picture of the drink because by the time the food came, I had only one thought. EAT!
If you haven't had one of these yet (if you're legal), you're missing out!
It's well worth the money. So delicious!
After all that food, we were supposed to be too full to have more food. Nope! We ended up heading over to the Menchies nearby for some delicious Froyo. It was a pretty amazing dessert.
My delicious baby. Chocolate-Vanilla Swirled together topped with candy coated chocolate chips and fresh strawberries. Mmmmmm....drool worthy.
Sunday morning came, and we all ended up sleeping in. We made some French Toast, and the boys had extra eggs on the side. The girls (myself and Samantha) just had the French Toast with a lot of fruit on the side. And of course, we had to have our bacon. I had a boiled egg on the side for both breakfast meals. (By the time I was done cooking with Sam, we were both too hungry to remember to take a picture of our plates. So the pictures are generally from when we plated for the boys)
The bowl of fruit which was shared between two people.
(Even though I could have totally devoured all that myself, but I had to save room for bacon)
The boys' breakfast. Scrambled eggs, French toast with organic syrup and bacon.
We all had more bacon than that, but this was just for the sake of taking a picture.
We spent all Sunday afternoon playing boardgames and just lazing around. First we played two games of Munchkins, then we proceeded to play Gloom. Munchkins is basically an RPG game in card form. It is really fun and has a lot of expansions. There are classes (Warriors, Wizards, Thieves, etc), and races (Elf, Half-ling, Dwarf, etc), and monsters (Plutonium Dragon, Lawyers, Pukachu, etc.), and the first person to reach level 10 is the winner. (Yes, I may be a little bit of a geek/nerd on the inside...fine I'm a lot of a geek on the inside. Shh!)
Munchin Deluxe on my coffee table. (Deluxe just means you get a board to count your levels. I know people who just write it down or use dice to count their level)
Another game we all enjoyed playing was Fluxx. We own the Zombie version of the game, and it is pretty fun. It is a game with no rules and many rules at the same time. The rules change as the game goes, and so do the goals (requirements to win the game). So it's a pretty unpredictable game, and I'm pretty sure you wont be getting bored of it any time soon. ;)
Zombie Fluxx on my coffee table.
Gloom is a story-telling card game, where the objective is to make your family as miserable (negative points) as possible, and then kill them off. While at the same time, you want to make your opponents as happy (positive) as possible and then kill them off. This is a super fun game where you have to invent story lines for your own characters and the characters of the other players' and weave everyone's story line together to create a superbly tragic story. It's amazing to see what everyone can create.
Gloom on my coffee table.
Gloom being played on Sam's kitchen table. =D
After the games, it was time to make lunch/dinner. For the sake of not being too confused, we shall call it Lunner. =) We decided to make hamburgers! Or cheeseburgers for those of us who added a slice of cheese. The boys had a relatively normal burger with their buns and all. Us girls decided to skip the buns and use two giant portobello mushrooms as buns. (We modified a recipe from Blogilates for this)
The "real" hamburger.
The healthy burger! I had to eat this with fork and knife. Classy ;)
Here's a link to the original recipe if you were interested in swapping out your normal hamburger for something healthier. =)

One of the real reasons for this visit was to celebrate Samantha's 22nd birthday! (it's on the 20th so technically we celebrated it early) Lucas will be celebrating his 23rd birthday quite soon (the 23rd) so we decided to do a combined cake. It was so much fun and we all had a blast. Happy birthday Sammie and Lucas! <3
Doesn't it look cute?
This is how it looks like if we were birds...and the candles were lit up.
It was a combined birthday celebration, so of course they had to cut the cake together!
This will be the end of my post for today! I hope you all enjoyed reading this, and I hope one day I can come back and reminisce about this and have a giant smile on my face. Just typing this up and uploading these pictures is going to keep a smile on my face when I sleep.

Well, this post is hella long! So I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! It is 2am where I live, and it is time for this little one (me) to go to bed!

 I'll see you next time!

Decorating my room...and my first requested video...

Haro peoples~
So...due to a lack of things to do for the summer, I have decided it was time to re-decorate my room to suit my age a bit more. I haven't really done much to my room since I first decorated the walls back in highschool, so I think it's time. First of all, this is how my room used to look like.
This is the neatest my room has ever been...
You see how I had random posters everywhere? Yeah...I was obsessed with anime and cute things soooo... yeah. Not a very nice look for a 23 year old's room.

I have now transformed that wall into this:
I've got loads of pictures of people I love and from events I want to remember.
I've always liked the look of hanging photographs onto a thin piece of string like this. I haven't taken down the glow-in-the-dark sticker things yet, but one of these days...maybe.

And the wall opposite it with a lamp, looks like this:
Yup. I hung up my creations =D
I feel so much better after this. I feel like I've allowed myself to grow up a little just by re-decorating, and it motivates me to start cleaning my room up. I am generally quite messy...and I guess acknowledging the fact is the first step in the right direction.

Another reason I did all this ... or really...the main reason was to procrastinate in making this requested tag video...a subscriber requested this, and I guess it was funky and awkward enough for me to agree. (Or because I was sleep deprived...) You can skip the video if you want to spare yourself the awkwardness of the whole thing...But for you weird awkward turtles out there, here it is...I hope you enjoy how awkward this is...The bellybutton tag:

Any ways, I hope you all enjoyed this wonderful Thursday, and I guess I'll see you next time!

Ramen Review 2.0 (Bibim men)

Well hello there interweb dwellers =)

Today I attempt to do a short review on what I think about the bibim men. It is a Korean instant noodle, and it is served cold, without water/soup. First off, here's a picture the packet of noodles, and of how I ate it a few days ago.
Why do instant noodle companies always make it look so good?
It doesn't look like the picture, but boy did it taste good.
Now, if any of you have had the Korean Bibimbap, then you would probably enjoy this one. It tastes pretty much the same (minus all the yummy veggies/meat...but you can put that in yourself), except it's really really spicy. Maybe it's just me...I normally don't put that much spicy sauce over my bibimbap, but this one tastes so good I just couldn't help it.

You just cook it like normal instant noodle. Boil it in water until the desired softness/firmness. Then, you would have to run it under cold water. This separates the noodles and stops it from continuing to cook. Then you just put the packet of spicy sauce over it and mix it all together. Once your noodles are saturated with the sauce, go ahead and add any vegetables and meats that you want. Make sure to cut/chop them into strips (kind of like match-stick sized) I normally do it that way, but on this particular occasion, I was at work with my dad and it wasn't feasible to waste so much time chopping things up.

I love this noodle because it satisfies my craving for Korean food most of the time. It tastes good, and is easy to make. A little twist on normal instant noodles where there is always soup and it is always served hot. On a steamy summer day, having a hot bowl of spicy noodles doesn't sound too good.

Maybe you can try it some day. =)

Until next time my lovely humans!

I LEARNED HOW TO RIDE A BIKE!!!

Humans of the interwebs...Welcome~

So ... As I mentioned before, I don't know how to ride a bike. My boyfriend mad it a mission to teach me how to ride a bike, and I would first like to say that I succeeded!!! Yay~ However, I had to get past the stares some people gave me. After a little bit I was just like "You know what? Screw your judgement! I'm here busting my ass trying to learn something useful and you're going to laugh at me in your head? Go ahead. I'm a better person today!" There were some other people who encouraged me. They even clapped and cheered me on! It shows me that there is still hope in the human race!

So on Tuesday, we went to Toronto Centre Island and rented out a bike for me, and I learned. I also took some pictures of scenery like a tourist (since I haven't been there since I was 7-9 years old) Enjoy~
Yay~ Fountain! I later saw a kid "swimming" in this exact fountain...
Another vertically water spraying thing!
My fail pose in front of fountain ... =(
I look like I'm on the phone, but I promise you...I'm not.
These flowers looked pretty nice. So I took a picture.
Now they don't look so special any more.
This duck was not afraid of humans at all! Cutie.
After about an hour of fear and hard work, I was able to ride in a straight line.
I was even able to glance at the camera!
Look at that level 10 concentration!
I treated myself to some delicious roasted corn after the bike ride. Delicious!
I had butter and sea salt added to it.
The Toronto skyline from while we waited for the ferry to come pick us up. It was really cold.
While we were waiting, I picked a little flower from the gates while waiting for the ferry. Pretty.
We were supposed to try the tandem bike, swan boats, jet ski, or paddle boards today, but it got too cold so we had to go home. I was not dressed for the sudden cold weather (I know...I was hoping for more of summer weather and sunshine). If you know Toronto, you know what I mean. It is warm enough for tank top and shorts, then 3 hours later you'll need a jacket and long pants. I envy the humans who live in California sometimes...minus the humidity =P

Here's a video shot of me biking. Lucas had to run with me to make sure I didn't fall. He was such a sweetheart.

Until next time! Stay weird and unique ;)
